Touristing in Ajaccio: Beaches in Town
/I've been in Ajaccio for a little over 3 weeks now and I've had the chance to do some touristy things. When you're living on a French island in the middle of the Mediterranean, the availability to tour around is definitely a huge perk!
The first week I was here, there was a lot of exploring. I took a ton of walks around town in the rain with my fellow assistant, Ella. It rained a ton that first week, but we didn't let that stop us from having a blast.
I walked to one of my schools in the pouring down rain, but I have since learned how to use the bus system. Thank goodness!
Beaches
The rain finally went away and I had the chance to go to beach! So far, I've been to St. François Beach and Trottel Beach. Both of them are right in town. St. François is underneath the Citadel, not far from the Ajaccio Cathedral, Cathédrale Notre-Dame de l'Assomption de Ajaccio. The beach itself looks out over the city. One of the first days after I arrived, Ella and I went for a swim. It was a little chilly, but she convinced me to get in :)
Trottel beach is a little farther away, but still very nice. I sat down to read "The Little Prince." It seemed a fitting choice :)
